What are your goals

What are your goals?

Answer:

My present goal is to get selected in a reputed company where, I can get a platform to explore my knowledge and technical skills and it would be a great opportunity for me, if it is (company name) and my goal for future is to be recognized and get a respectable position in your company and there I would appreciated for my endeavor and commitment.

Without long term goal, its hard to decide your short term goal.

Think of it as a cricket tournament. If you need to win the tournament, you need to win each match.

Here long term objective is winning the tournament and to accomplish it, your short term which is winning each match is defined.

So, I would say, my long term objective is to get reputation in your company or seeing myself at a respectable position or could be India Head (operations) and which I believe is achievable once my short term goal of entering to your company and getting familiarized with the work culture is accomplished.

So here long term objective is: Reputation or India Head or Respectable Position:

To achieve that, short term is entering the company first and familiarize your yourself with the work culture, people etc.

TRAPS: Not having any ... or having only vague generalities, not highly specific goals.

BEST ANSWER: Many executives in a position to hire you are strong believers in goal setting (it's one of the reasons they've achieved so much). They like to hire in kind.
If you're vague about your career and personal goals, it could be a big turnoff to many people you will encounter in your job search.
Be ready to discuss your goals for each major area of your life: career, personal development and learning, family, physical (health), community service and (if your interviewer is clearly a religious person) you could very briefly and generally allude to your spiritual goals (showing you are a well-balanced individual with your values in the right order).

Be prepared to describe each goal in terms of specific milestones you wish to accomplish along the way, time periods you're allotting for accomplishment, why the goal is important to you, and the specific steps you're taking to bring it about. But do this concisely, as you never want to talk for more than two minutes straight before letting your interviewer back into the conversation.
